Let the flowers guide you through the Territoire de Belfort.

The department is one of the smallest in France, not only in terms of size but also for its population. It is also the department with the highest proportion of labelled “Towns and Villages in Bloom” (42%). Not to mention the fact that more than 70% of the municipalities compete in the departmental contest! All this is the fruit of the energy and dedication exhibited by the towns, the volunteers and the inhabitants who are devoted to showing off their heritage, preserve their landscapes and beautifying their homes. What a wonderful way to welcome visitors to the Territoire de Belfort!

Pretty pavilions, bright colours, intoxicating scents and amazing floral creations make up the urban landscape of the town of Belfort. The town follows a programme of natural, sustainable flowerscapes. Only Square Lechten and Square du Souvenir are still worked in a mosaic pattern. The expertise is extraordinary, but the real treat is for the eyes!  The rest of the flower beds and compositions fuel the spirit of “nature and the countryside brought to town”.

On another level, if you are keen on flowers and original decorations, you absolutely must take a detour to the village of Rougegoutte in the north of the department. For more than 40 years now, each year and each season, a great deal of effort is put in by the entire population and the municipality. In fact, the team works hard to beautify the local ponds, forest and roadsides, so much so that the village won the silver medal in the 1998 European Towns and Villages in Bloom contest!
