Introduction to the world of aromatic plants
A first step into the fabulous world of aromatic plants.
Plant identification: Learn to recognise the specific characteristics of a number of aromatic and medicinal plants, in terms of their appearance, smell and texture.
Harvesting and conservation: Discover the basics of responsible harvesting and how to preserve the active ingredients of plants to ensure quality infusions.
Extraction methods: Explore the different methods for extracting flavours and active ingredients from plants (infusion, decoction, maceration, etc.).
Module 1: Awakening the senses - Smell and imagination
Focus on the sense of smell: this powerful sense is capable of evoking memories and emotions like Proust's madeleine.
Introduction to sensory vocabulary: enrich your language with terms borrowed from perfumery and oenology, to better express your perceptions.
Olfactory exploration: Using infusions, identify the 'top notes' on the nose that dominate the sensory experience and give a decisive first impression.
The imaginary world of infusions: Imagine a world associated with each scent and flavour - a walk in the woods, an evening by the fire, or a bouquet of summer flowers. Each infusion tells a unique story.
Module 2: Tasting - A vocabulary for talking about herbal teas
What if we tasted herbal teas like a sommelier tastes wine?
Taste analysis: Blind taste a selection of different infusions and identify their main aromatic notes, from the most dominant to the most subtle.
Aromatic organ: Explore a unique teaching tool that lists the major aromatic families, to enhance your understanding and refine your perception.
Refine your sensory language: Express your feelings using precise terms to describe aromatic nuances.
Module 3: The art of infusion and blending
Each plant can be sublimated in a balanced and harmonious blend.
A deeper understanding of taste: Explore simple plants individually to understand their flavours and specific characteristics.
Perception of balance: Learn to discern the aromatic "faults and qualities" of each plant to balance blends and create harmonious flavours.
Blending techniques: Learn the art of blending plants. Create a group infusion in which each plant finds its place, between top, middle and base notes.
Module 4: Personalised creation
Give free rein to your creativity and design your own infusion.
Plant selection : Choose from a range of organic and local plants from La Cabane aux Herbes.
Guided assembly : Independently and with Chloé's advice, create your own unique, balanced and tasty infusion.
Test and adjust: Brew and taste your creation to fine-tune the flavours to your taste.
Conclude and leave with your herbal tea!
Each participant will leave with :
A personalised infusion created during the workshop.
An accompanying booklet containing advice, the vocabulary of infusions and the aromatic table of the plants explored.
