AHOUVI
AHOUVI
Details
Ahouvi means "my love" in Hebrew. For several years now, Israeli-born artist Yuval ROZMAN has been developing a captivating body of work about Jewishness and universalism. In Ahouvi, he follows the couple formed by an Israeli woman and a Frenchman, then their separation and the drift towards violence and destruction. Following an intense relationship that is both a sensual paradise and a dark tomb, HE is at the end of his rope, can't take it any more, and is looking for a new way of life in search of freedom. SHE tells us their story, from day one. At the centre of their married life is Yova, the dog they have adopted and who never leaves them, the object of their bond and of their denial. In a quadri-frontal set-up where the artists take the audience as witnesses, it is through this animal presence and Yuval ROZMAN's ferocious humour that the tragedy gradually engulfs us, as rain falls on the stage, mirroring the audience's emotions.
