Mois du film documentaire – Des fraises pour le renard
Details
A revolution is brewing in the countryside: communities of farmers are springing up across the country, where domestic and wild life interact and negotiate, day after day, for the greater benefit of all. Farmers are fraternising with foxes, providing shelter for migratory birds and welcoming weeds. All this cumbersome, useless and so-called harmful nature, which conventional agriculture has been trying to exterminate with pesticides for over fifty years, coexists with man for the good of all. By following the lives of 3 emblematic farms in our French regions, the film introduces us to a little-known aspect of biodiversity. Michel, who breeds dairy cows for a PDO cheese in the Doubs region of France, has stopped using the traditional chemical products used to eliminate voles, small rodents that devastate meadows and harm the cows' feed. This is because there is a natural predator: the fox. Its presence alone is enough to limit the ravages of voles, but you still have to tolerate it stealing a few strawberries from your vegetable garden!
