Returning to his Mediterranean roots, Hervé KOUBI weaves together fourteen self-taught dancers he has met all over the Mediterranean basin to stage magnificent barbarians and overcome the ancestral fear of the foreigner. Portées, somersaults, acrobatics of all kinds and aerial physical performances follow one another relentlessly in a series of tableaux of raw, sensual force, somewhere between war parade, hip-hop and contemporary ballet. An urban rewriting of the age-old story of the mixing of cultures, set against a backdrop of scores by MOZART, FAURÉ and traditional Algerian music. With precision and unconventionality, this impressive ballet, which has never before been performed at the GRRRANIT SN, celebrates otherness and sheds light on the road we still have to travel together to build a more tolerant and peaceful world.
