Considered the youngest and most talented puppeteer in Palermo, Enzo Mancuso is the heir to the Sicilian art of puppetry - the pupi siciliani - whose tradition dates back to the 19th century. These rod puppets mostly represent knights in luxurious armour,
embodying the heroes of a universe inspired by medieval chansons de geste.
Classified by UNESCO as one of the "masterpieces of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity", these Sicilian shows present different episodes of the "history of the Paladins of France". Orlando, his cousin Rinaldo and the beautiful oriental princess Angelica are among the emblematic characters of this repertoire, embodied on stage by splendid puppets of almost one metre in height, which come to life in front of a set composed of large canvases.
