Michel is a factory worker in Belfort; Marie-France is a journalist in Paris; Luc is a teacher in Vénissieux. What do they have in common? They were born in the early 1950s and, at the age of eighteen, "did" May 1968. But above all, on the evening of 10 May 1981, they were thirty years old and dreaming of seeing the election of François Mitterrand to finally "change life". Today, on the eve of the first round of the 2022 presidential elections, Luc is preparing to vote for Jean-Luc Mélenchon, Marie-France for Emmanuel Macron and Michel for Marine Le Pen.
What promises, what unspoken words and what betrayals is François Mitterrand the name of? This is what the three characters will try to understand as they tell the audience about their destinies, emblematic of France at the end of the 20th century, and as they take it in turns to play the role of the first Socialist President of the Fifth Republic.
