Faces of the World
Faces of the World
Details
A photograph is a birth, often, if not always, the fruit of chance, an unexpected, even inexplicable combination of circumstances that leads to the press of a button to show a face, a moment, a reality, dramatic or happy. Photographs sometimes show things that we don't see when we take them, in the moment of movement, that we won't see again the next moment, but which will appear forever afterwards.
By showing the faces of these often very modest women, men and children from Rajasthan and Florida, Cuba and Cambodia, or Vietnam and Morocco, I wanted to illustrate their caring humanity, their pride and their ability to overcome the ups and downs of lives often made up of destitution. I have learnt a lot from their eyes, and still learn a lot about the human condition.
