Through painting, drawing or monotype, Paquignon draws on his many travels to produce a rare work that is always reworked in the studio.
Dogs wandering between railway tracks, urban or industrial perspectives, animals exposed to the sun, bunkers and facades, busts of men: Paquignon is sensitive to the image of the world and to the experiences it provides, and is not satisfied with a theory or an aesthetic.
It is a demanding painting that requires time for the visitor to acclimatise, even an asceticism: the painter does not aim to represent reality but to signify its presence, to go beyond simple perception and to reveal a form of intimacy.
