Concert HARMONIES CÉLESTES : Monteverdi-Scarlatti
Concert HARMONIES CÉLESTES : Monteverdi-Scarlatti
Details
The Belfort Innerwheel Club is delighted to be offering this concert in partnership with the SCHERZI ensemble, directed by Jean-Michel MONTORNÈS, which brings together the voices of the Arcanes choir, the string instruments of the Belfort Conservatoire teachers organised into a quartet and Yves LAMEY's positive organ.
For this concert, the Scherzi ensemble invites us on a musical journey to the heart of the Italian Baroque.
On the programme: taken from the Selva Morale collection of 1640, you will discover psalms by Monteverdi that illustrate the boldness and modernity of this composer's writing, at the crossroads of madrigal and opera. Conceived for a variety of forces, they are strikingly rich in expression. In counterpoint, Alessandro Scarlatti's Concerti grossi and Magnificat serve as a reminder of the decisive contribution made by this major but somewhat forgotten composer, whose influence extends from opera to the birth of the string quartet. An evening where fervour and innovation echo each other, carried by the elegance and passion of the performers.
For this concert, we have the pleasure of welcoming you to the Church of Sainte-Odile in Belfort, a venue remarkable for its generous acoustics and magnificent architecture, offering the ideal setting in which to appreciate the full richness of the Baroque repertoire.
