While we've known the actress, writer and director for a long time, with her memorable roles in the cinema, rewarded by an honorary César, and her great successes in the theatre shared with her eternal accomplice Jean-Pierre BACRI, we know less that Agnès JAOUI has also been triumphant, for several years now, in her musical performances. With four solo albums to her name and a host of collaborations to her name, she is a luminous and singular singer.
"For some years now, I've been asked, by Olivier GLUZMAN in particular, to write songs in French. But I couldn't do it and I didn't want to sing in French, even other people's words. I felt protected by foreign languages, whereas in French I felt vulnerable. Little by little, I learnt, at the rate of one or two songs per concert and per record. I got to grips with sung French and agreed to reveal more of myself. And now, after 20 years of performing in Spanish, Portuguese, Hebrew and Arabic, I have my first album in French. Agnès JAOUI
