Belfort's museums
A Bourgeois manse, Vauban's bastion tower, a former military barracks: the first remarkable feature of Belfort's museums is their architectural provenance. Visitors will undoubtedly be won over by the subtle settings of these interiors. If you are an art lover, you will be awed by the collections at the fine arts and modern art museums. For history buffs, head to the Belfort Citadel where a sizeable collection of military artifacts awaits you. It will also give you the perfect opportunity to discover the new Espace Bartholdi.
Maison Départementale de l'Environnement
For more than 15 years, this departmental museum devoted to the environment has been addressing ecological issues. Every activity is an opportunity for exchange and dialogue between environmental specialists and a very broad swath of the general public, from the merely curious to informed activists.
Situated on the banks of Malsaucy Lake at the doorstep of the Ballons des Vosges Natural Park just outside Belfort, it is one of the most visited public sites in the department. From March to December it hosts free exhibits and activities for people of all ages where everyone is welcome.
