The old town
Old Town is a key feature in Belfort's historical heritage. A favoured destination for visitors, the historic district is also a thriving neighbourhood with festive, colourful architecture.
Nestled amidst the heart of Vauban's ramparts at the foot of the Citadel and under the watchful eye of Bartholdi's Lion, it reveals its charms to tourists and passersby.
As you stroll about, take time to observe the monuments which commemorate the history of Belfort: the Porte de Brisach and its sleeping bridge, the Place des Bourgeois with its ancient cereals exchange and Saint Christopher Cathedral hewed from pink sandstone.
